Washington Composting

Why does my celery not grow? Please help!?
Hello,
I live in Washington State, specifically Tacoma, on the west side. I have a vegetable garden that I have been planting crops for several years now. One of my main crops, celery, does NOT grow like it should. Why is this? The crop will grow up to 2″ and will pretty much halt there like a grass.
An interesting note is that if there is a plant like a tomato, a single celery crop will grow much taller than the stagnant height that is fully exposed. It cannot be too much exposure can it? Especially when taking into account the lack of sunlight in this state.
The garden is full of rich compost and nutrients, so I know that the soil is not the problem.
I’m wondering if any of you folks has an idea or suggestion..?
Thank you very much for your time.
You may have some local problems effecting your celery. You would be much better off contacting someone local for help. The washington state master gardeners would be able to help.
